The Preschool Committee

Hi, I’m Caroline.

I’m a mum of two; my eldest attended preschool for 2.5 years and has just moved onto primary school, and my youngest started at preschool in September 2023.

I was on the Committee in 2022/23 and was elected as the Chairperson in October 2023 and I’m still here! Having been involved previously, I saw all the fantastic work the committee did to organise events that both children and the parents really enjoyed, and I’m excited to work with the new committee to keep that going!

Hayley and her lovely team of ladies work really hard to make Potley Hill a fun an inviting place to be, full of treasures to explore, with opportunities to develop new skills and of course, learn about the natural world at the wonderful forest school. They’ve always made me and my family so welcome and really value the involvement of parents in your child’s preschool journey. They love to hear stories from home, so please share your child’s activities and milestones through the online learning journal (available through Tapestry). In turn, you will get to see photos of all the fun things the children get up to whilst at preschool.

The Preschool is committee led and this means that without parents volunteering as trustees to form the committee, we can’t run the preschool and provide the service we do. The committee organise a number of events for the children every year including discos, Christmas events, and the annual ‘toddle waddle’ held in the summer – always such fun watching the chaos of all the children running around the field! Some of our events help to raise funds for exciting new resources and in the past we’ve helped to purchase water play equipment, the lodge for Forest school and additional training for the staff.

Also look out for the parent and family social events the committee organise – these can be a great way to meet other parents away from the school gate and make new friends.

If you want to get involved in the committee, please let me or the office know. We love having new members to bring fresh ideas and you can get involved as much or as little as you like. We meet once every term to discuss the running of the preschool, and as needed when we are organising events. But if you can only spare a little time to help at an event, bake some cakes or help out for a couple of hours at one of the parent DIY days, that’s great too.

If you’ve got any feedback on any of the events we organise, please do let me know – we want to make these enjoyable for everyone involved.

I look forward to meeting you at the preschool gates or an event very soon.

Caroline
